Hector Malot (La Bouille, 1830 - Fontenay-sous-Bois, 1907), scrittore e critico letterario, esordì nel 1859 con il romanzo Les amants. Dei suoi oltre sessanta libri, il più celebre è certamente Senza famiglia, apparso in origine a puntate sul quotidiano “Le Siècle” e poi pubblicato in due volumi nel 1878. Considerato uno dei classici per ragazzi più amati di tutti i tempi, il romanzo ha ispirato numerosi adattamenti per il grande schermo e la popolarissima serie animata Remi - Le sue avventure, trasmessa per la prima volta dalla tv italiana nel 1979.
